Did you catch this year’s Oscar nominations? Streaming services shined in the prestigious award show nominations with Netflix earning 35 in total. Woah.

Here are all the films available to watch right now exclusively on Netflix.

1.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 follows the infamous 1969 trial following a counterculture protest.

The stunning film includes an all-star cast as a series of lesser-known figures such as Tom Haden (Eddie Redmayne), Abbie Hoffman (Sacha Baron Cohen), Bobby Seale (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and more.

The film is nominated for Best Picture, Original Screenplay, and Editing.

2.

Mank, starring Gary Oldman and Amanda Seyfried, follows Herman J. Mankiewicz as he finishes off Citizen Kane.

Mank received 10 nominations in total including: Best Director (David Fincher) and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Gary Oldman).

It was also nominated for Best Picture, and Amanda Seyfried picked up a Best Supporting Actress nod.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom follows the iconic Ma Rainey and her band as stakes rise at a recording studio.

Chadwick Boseman was nominated posthumously for Best Actor, and Viola Davis was nominated for Best Actress — AKA the most nominated Black actress in history!

The groundbreaking film was nominated for five awards including Production Design, Costume Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling.

Da 5 Bloods, directed by Spike Lee, tells the story of five African American war vets in Vietnam as they return to find a hidden fortune.

Like Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, this film also features Chadwick Boseman in one of his final roles.

While many thought the film would receive more nominations, it did get a nod for Best Original Score.

Nonetheless, that’s a feat within itself.

5.

Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution from Higher Ground Company is nominated for Best Documentary Feature.

Directed, written, and coproduced by Nicole Newnham, the documentary follows post-Woodstock as a group of teen campers join the Disability Rights Movement.

My Octopus Teacher scored a Best Documentary Feature, which is really cool.

The doc follows an octopus living off the coast of South Africa.

Visceral and immersive, the doc deserves all the recognition.

The short film, If Anything Happens I Love You shows the aftermath of school shootings in a devastating way.

They picked up a nomination for Best Animated Short Film.

A Love Song for Latasha, directed by Sophia Nahli Allison, intimately shows the significant impact Latasha Harlins had on the LA community.

Nominated for Best Documentary (Short), the 19-minute film is devastating and beautiful and definitely one to watch.

9.

Over the Moon is a sweet animated musical following a spunky girl as she builds a rocketship in order to meet a mythical goddess on the moon.

Up for Best Animated Feature, Over the Moon is the first China–US coproduced animated film to receive a nomination.

Directed by Oscar-Winning Filmmaker & Animator Glen Keane, the screenplay comes from Audrey Wells with additional material by Alice Wu and Jennifer Yee McDevitt.

The Life Ahead tells the story of an unlikely bond between an aging Holocaust survivor and the young Senegalese immigrant who robbed her.

11.

Sci-fi film The Midnight Sky grabbed a nomination for Best Visual Effects.

Based on the 2016 novel Good Morning, Midnight, by Lily Brooks-Dalton, the film follows Arctic scientist Augustine Lofthouse (George Clooney) as he races to warn an impending spaceship from landing.

Farmageddon is nominated for Best Animated Feature.

The Shaun The Sheep movie picked up a nod, even though it was released in 2019.
